Launch Academy Expands to Washington, D.C.
We opened our doors in Boston in 2013 and Philadelphia in 2016. In that time, we’ve graduated more than 600 students, starting them on successful new careers as junior web developers. Now, we’ve got exciting news to share: We’re headed next to our nation’s capital!
We’re officially accepting applications and scheduling interviews for our first cohort in Washington, D.C., and are building out our D.C. campus at The Cove’s newest location in Dupont Circle. Ignition pre-work kicks off on November 27, 2017, and the first day on campus will be January 29, 2018.
Why D.C.?
At Launch Academy, we’re dedicated to expanding access to tech education for anyone who wants to learn how to code. When we determine cities ripe for our immersive coding bootcamp model, we look for an eager potential student population, a robust group of hiring partners, and job vacancies our graduates can fill. D.C. meets all three criteria.
Where is Launch Academy's Campus in Washington, D.C.?
As we mentioned, we’ll be at the new Cove coworking location in Dupont Circle. (The street address is 1666 Connecticut Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20009.)
Is Launch Academy in Washington, D.C., Different from Boston and Philadelphia?
While the curriculum will be identical to our Boston and Philadelphia locations, the initial D.C. cohorts may be smaller than our current Boston and Philadelphia cohorts. This ensures a more personalized learning experience for our students, and an opportunity for our Experience Engineers (e.g., our instructors) to adapt to any unanticipated elements as we get established in our newest city.
Who Will Be Teaching at Launch Academy?
Most of our instructors will be experienced Launch Academy instructors from Boston and Philadelphia, and we will also be making some local hires.
What's the Student:Teacher Ratio at Launch Academy?
As with our Boston and Philadelphia cohorts, the student:teacher ratio goal for our Washington, D.C., cohort is 6:1.
What is the Launch Academy Admissions Process?
Our application and admissions process for our D.C. cohorts is the same as in Boston and Philadelphia: Submit an application and schedule an interview; post-interview, you’ll then get notified a few days later whether you were accepted or rejected.
Will You Have Financing Options for Launch Academy?
Yes! Similar to Boston and Philadelphia, you can apply to Skills Fund to finance your coding bootcamp.
Will the Job Placement Rate Be the Same as Boston and Philadelphia?
As of summer 2017, our Boston placement rate is 93 percent, our Philly placement rate is 91 percent. We strive for similar placement rates for our Washington, D.C. cohorts.
